I was born (1986) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (the former Soviet Republic of Uzbekistan) to Greek parents and grew up in Karditsa after my family’s repatriation to Greece.
I graduated (2008) with honors from the School of Primary Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. My undergraduate studies were focused on issues related to social exclusion, anti-racism and multicultural education. In 2013, I obtained with honors a Ph.D. in Education from the School of Primary Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2019, I completed a two-year postdoctoral research that was conducted in the School Early Childhood Education at University of Thessaly.
For all my studies, I’ve received scholarships from well-known institutions such as the Greek State Scholarship Foundation, the American Educational Research Association, the Propontis Foundation, etc.
I’ve worked as a primary school teacher and as an adjunct lecturer at the School of Early Childhood Education of the University of Thessaly. In July, 2021, I was appointed as Assistant Professor of “Applied critical pedagogy in early childhood education”.
My research interests focus on issues related to social exclusion and education in areas such as: (a) pre- and in-service teachers’ training programs in critical education, (b) social and educational empowerment of children in early childhood education, (c) critical review of education policy on issues related to education for social justice and equality.
