Martha Katsaridou is Assistant Professor at the Department of Early Childhood Education, University of Thessaly. She has studied Pedagogy (School of Primary Education-Faculty of Education, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2000) and acting (Centre of Drama Research, Thessaloniki). Recipient of the Onassis scholarship, she has studied Theatre in Education (MA, Goldsmith’s College, University of London, 2002). Her PhD thesis has as subject the teaching of literature through drama (Αristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2011).

She has worked as a teaching fellow at the School of Drama, Faculty of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2017-2019), as a tutor at the postgraduate programme “Theatre Studies”, Open University of Cyprus (2014-2019) and she has taught the course “theatre game” at the Department of Early Childhood Care and Education, ATEI of Thessaloniki (2014-2017, 2018-2019). She has worked as a teacher in Primary Education for 15 years (2002-2017).

She has collaborated in training courses (University of Thessaly, University of the Aegean, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Macedonia) and has participated in European Erasmus+ Programmes. She has designed drama workshops for the Museum of Byzantine Culture, the International Puppet and Mime Festival of Kilkis and Cyprus, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall as well as the Hellenic Theatre/Drama and Education Network. She has collaborated as a workshop leader with the National Theatre and the Tricycle Theatre (London), as well as with cultural associations, theatres and schools. She has taught in seminars and has worked as a director and assistant director in performances with children and teenagers. In 2014 she published her book: Drama/Theatre Education: Teaching literature in a multicultural class (in Greek), Stamoulis, Thessaloniki. She has published articles on Drama/Theatre in Education in international journals and conference proceedings.

Her research interests involve Applied Drama/Theatre as a learning medium and a tool of social research and intervention.
