Course description

The cultivation of the imagination and of creative thought is indisputably an objective of primary significance in pre-school education. Responsibility for the maximum utilisation of the range of creative potential in each child lies with the kindergarten teacher, whose task is to develop in his/her young charges a desire for creation through a wide variety of forms of expression.

 

Learning outcomes

During the course students are expected to:

  • understand the importance of creating a learning environment that is a source of  experiencesand encourages the child to explore in preschool,
  • to clarify the role that the teacher is called to play in the cultivation of imagination and the development of creative thinking in kindergarten,
  • understand the importance of experiential activities and different forms of expression, drawing ideas and goals from all learning areas of the curriculum

 

Assessment

Course assessment involves a) written exams at the end of the semester b) students group assignments.

 

Teaching methods

Lectures, conversation, introduction to theoretical knowledge based on bibliography, laboratory exercises.
