The course introduces methodological principles for the teaching of historical and cultural information to preschool children. The aim is for infants to familiarize themselves with evidence of the past and to acquire basic knowledge of mainly local history and culture by studying the historical site. Reference is made to the cognitive preconditions for teaching history and culture to preschool children; the understanding, on the infants’ part, of the  concept of evolution over time, facilitated by environmental cues; the contribution of local history to students’ familiarization with historical research methodology; the role of the historical example in  reliving the past, etc. The educational programs designed and implemented during class such as the study of historical monuments, the old town, the examination of personalities, past activities, and cultural peculiarities, etc. aim to acquaint infants with the use of evidence of the past, to provide them with elementary knowledge of their cultural heritage and to foster understanding of the importance of alterity.
