The aim is to deepen students\u2019 knowledge and skills so that they will become more efficient in solving everyday problems related with school leaning, achievement, and adaptation in the classroom. Among the topics of the course are the role of intelligence and cognitive abilities in students\u2019 learning and academic attainments, the development of students\u2019 academic self-concept, the development and enhancement of students\u2019 metacognition and self-regulated learning skills by parents and teachers, promoting students\u2019 motivation for learning, teachers\u2019 training in instructing self-regulated learning skills in the classroom, the contribution of social-emotional learning in academic achievement, promoting children\u2019s socio-emotional skills, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Learning outcomes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon successful completion of this course, the student teachers will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">discuss on the role of students\u2019 cognitive and socio-emotional factors in their learning and academic attainments and discuss on the role of parents and teachers in promoting students\u2019 skills and knowledge<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">use their knowledge and skills in order to plan and implement activities at an initial level for facilitating and supporting students facing difficulties in learning and classroom adaptation<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spot, analyze and synthesize findings and information from the relevant literature, interpret them and critically evaluate them\u00a0in order to appropriately respond to psychoeducational problems regarding behavior and learning in the classroom<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">successfully communicate to non-experts knowledge, ideas, problems and their solutions regarding foundational psychological concepts and factors associated with learning and students\u2019 adaptation in the classroom context<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Evaluation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Short essays during the courses (up to 50% of the total scoring) and final study\/essay (up to 50% of the total scoring)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Teaching methods<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lectures, studying and reflecting on papers, elaborating student cases, essay writing under guidance<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Course Code (in greek): \u03a8\u03a70620 ECTS Units: 5 Semester: 7 Professor: Dermitzaki Irini Course material &nbsp; Course description During this course, the student teachers focus on specific issues discussed in the mandatory course \u201cEducational Psychology\u201d and work on their applications in the classroom.
