The course aims to:<\/p>\n<p>(a) introduce students to the conditions of development and evolution of children&#8217;s books,<\/p>\n<p>(b) familiarize students with types and genres of literature;<\/p>\n<p>(c) bring students in touch with fundamental and basic literary works and the representatives of children&#8217;s literature;<\/p>\n<p>d) introduce students to the basic theories and streams on children\u2019s literature.<\/p>\n<p>The main axis of the course lies on the apprehension of the historical, social and cultural context that shaped the special characteristics of Children&#8217;s Literature and contributed in general to the formation of the course of children&#8217;s books in our country. Theoretical views concerning the child as a reader and their role in the interpretation and approach of children&#8217;s literature are identified. Translations and adaptations of children&#8217;s books.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intended learning outcomes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>acquired basic knowledge around children&#8217;s books<\/li>\n<li>comprehended the role that perceptions around childhood hold in the creation of children&#8217;s literature<\/li>\n<li>become familiarized with types, genres and creators of children\u2019s literature<\/li>\n<li>comprehended the connection between literature and children&#8217;s upbringing and education<\/li>\n<li>comprehended the special features of children&#8217;s literature<\/li>\n<li>comprehended issues of criticism around children&#8217;s literature<\/li>\n<li>comprehended the ideological orientations and conventions of children&#8217;s books<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The assessment of the course includes:<\/p>\n<p>(a) written examinations at the end of the semester and<\/p>\n<p>(b) delivery and presentation of small projects by the students.
